Matter is a new interoperability protocol for the smart home launched by the joint effort of the largest companies operating in the technology market.

Matter was born from the project CHIP (Project Connected Home over IP). The project, announced in December 2019, has among its founders the major IT giants: Amazon, Apple, Google, Samsung smartthings, Comcast and the Zigbee Alliance (now called Connectivity Standards Alliance).

The goal of the two projects remains the same: to ensure the interchangeability of devices and ensure communication between all iot systems between and with home automation systems.

Matter is therefore proposed as the solution capable of allowing the entire interoperability through the following strengths:
